Why isn't The Signal free?
We're not a legacy newspaper with a press that's been running for a hundred years, we're a small, independent, community-first team. Printing and mailing a full-color magazine every month is real money: paper, ink, postage, and a local printer doing the actual work, we don't have the deep pockets bigger media companies do. Subscriptions and advertising are what actually keep The Signal printing, and a real share of that money stays right here in Douglas County with the printer we work with. We know asking people to pay is a big ask, and we don't take that lightly. If we ever reach a point where we can lower the cost, or make it free, we will. Until then, the best we can offer is honesty about where the money goes.
What size and format does The Signal print in?
8.5 × 11 inches, full color throughout, with a full-page live area of 7.5 × 10 inches. It's printed monthly, and every subscription includes a digital PDF edition too.
What file formats do you accept for ads and coupons?
Press-ready PDF with fonts embedded is preferred. JPG or PNG at 300 dpi or higher also works, in either CMYK or RGB.
What are the deadlines for booking and artwork?
Ad copy and design revisions are due 14 days before the print date. Payment is due at booking for new advertisers, or monthly in advance for multi-issue contracts.
Is this pricing final?
Not carved in stone, no. We're still working out real print and distribution costs as we get closer to launch, so everything on this page is our best honest estimate right now, not a permanent number. We'll always aim to keep prices as low as we can while still keeping The Signal sustainable to print every month. If a price ever needs to change, we'll say so clearly on this page rather than quietly raising it.
Can I cancel a subscription or sponsorship?
Yes, anytime. Just reach out and we'll take care of it, no long contracts or cancellation fees.
How do I get my digital PDF edition?
Every subscription, mailed, pickup, or institutional, includes access to a digital PDF of each issue. We'll email you a link once you're set up.
